Twenty - 20 Update
|
|
The season has not even started and we are already half ways into BCMCL and Lower Mainland's first ever Twenty-20 League. We saw Juniors, Abbotsford and Pakcan go on to the second round of Twenty-20 League with 100% win ratio. The Management Committee of BCMCL would like to extend its appreciation for all the kind words that have come from all quarters of cricketing fraternity.

Season 2008 Update

What a start to Season 2008!!! We are all having a great time with the Twenty-20 League.
BCMCL regular 50 over season will start as planned on April 26, 2008. The schedule will be up soon. We thank everyone for their patience. Till then enjoy the Twenty-20 Cricket.

Registration Forms Reminder
|
|
Many registration forms are being submitted without a player ID number, no club witness signature, no address, no birthday, some are "homeless" (no club name provided), therefore the player's name does not appear on the web page as being activated. All Clubs are reminded that it will be their responsibility to ensure that players must be registered prior to playing. Completed registration forms must be faxed by the Wednesday prior to a player playing their first match. Please ensure that the registration forms are legible, use black ink when possible. We will be asking all clubs that the incomplete forms be resubmitted with the required information provided.

Ranatunga Night - A Fundraiser
|
|
The BCMCL would like to extend an invitation to all its cricketing member to attend the Arjuna Ranatunga Night - A Fundraiser, to be held at Bollywood Banquet Hall on March 28, 2008. Mr. Ranatunga and Canadian Cricket Association CEO Mr. Atul Ahuja will be in attendance. Renowned group Enkarma will do a performance in the event and halal food will be served. Please make yourself count in this mega fundraising event. We will honour the Cricket Legend Mr. Ranatunga on the night. The tickets can be bought at Bollywood Banquet Hall, Kamal's Video in Surrey, House of Dosas in Vancouver and Grower's Video in Abbotsford. Tickets can also be picked up from Vikram (778-229-2885).

Twenty-20 League 2008

BCMCL is pleased to announce the first Twenty-20 Cricket League in the Lower Mainland. Please contact the league secretary at secretary@bcmcl.ca for any questions or concerns.
Summary of 20/20 League:
- Start Date: 29th March 2008
- Last Date to Register Team: 14th March 2008
- Player Registration Due Date: 22nd March 2008
- Registration Fee: $490
- Colour Uniform, White balls, Umpires, Grounds and Prizes will be provided by BCMCL in the same fee
- Team Allocation: 16 teams from BCMCL only, 1 team/club
- Schedules will be sent to the clubs by 18th March 2008
- 20/20 Cricket League will be played under ICC rules

2008 BCMCL Divisions

The BCMCL Management Committee is happy to announce the league structure for the 2008 season. We have added 3 new teams to existing clubs and 9 new clubs (with one team). The league will have 47 teams in total spread over 5 divisions.

Women's Cricket
|
|
Canadian Cricket Association has initiated a very important program relating to women's cricket. They have requested local leagues to be in full participation with this. BCMCL would like to give full co-operation in this program and request anyone who is interested in joining or forming a team to contact the league secretary at secretary@bcmcl.ca.

Junior Programs
|
We are pleased to inform that Shaun Miller - ECB Level 3 Coach (the only ONE in BC with that credential), has agreed to run our junior clinics to develop the youth in the game of cricket. He will also hold sessions for senior cricketers to develop and improve their game. Shaun Miller is also a Deputy National Coach for team Canada.
The junior program will consist of:
- Development of youth
- Creation of school league in lower mainland
- Preparing younger cricketers for Canada Under - 19
- Preparing younger cricketers for Canada Under - 23
- Hold cricket clinics for beginners
- Hold tournaments with other provinces in Under-19 & Under-23 category
- Saturday morning Junior Cricket League
- Training session to be held by MRF Pace Foundation
In addition to above Shaun Miller will work with seniors as well with respect to improving their game so potential players can represent team Canada in future.

Progress for Season 2008

Please be informed that in addition to new junior programs, we will carry on with all the events and junior programes which were held in the previous years. We would like to inform everyone, be it a junior or senior, that we will have an open door policy in which we will welcome everyone's comments, feedback or suggestions over the season. The main reason behind this is to make BCMCL operate better than previous years and all your suggestion will work as an important tool to put this league as the best cricket league in Canada.

We are pleased to announce that Dennis Lillee's MRF Pace Foundation which is acknowledged best in the world have confirmed a camp for BCMCL between August 10 to August 25 in Season 2008. This sponsored camp will hold both seniors and juniors programs.

Dress Code Reminder
|
Reminder: Governing Rule No.37 states that "All players must wear white or cream coloured clothing including a shirt with a collar and long pants. Players who do not comply with this rule will not be allowed to play in the match." Umpires will be reinforcing this rule.

Cricket Ground Usage
|
|
Clubs are reminded that the use of grounds for games or practices is not permitted without a permit from the issuing authority. Other sports groups also have permits and municipalities are extremely unhappy when conflict arises. Please treat this as an important issue.
